5 Stars: Bulwark exterminator doug (by Mark C.)

November 18th, 2011 No comments

Doug schwepp was fantastic and a pleasure to have service our house. He took the time to sit down with us and show us the 5-point treatment he used to get rid of scorpions and black widows, and we havent seen anything since, definately better servicing than western exterminating. Doug, if u get achance to read this, me and my roommate really appreciate everything you've done. Thank you

I was an Initial Service Technician, meaning I only was only servicing new customers and providing the Full House Clean Out, for one of the best salesman in the history of Bulwark.  I had a full day of services in one of the cities more influential neighborhoods.  As normal I begin to scan the customer’s property as soon as I exit the work vehicle.  I noticed that there was a paper on the driveway so I picked it up and carried the paper with me to the door.  This is one of the advance tactics that you learn as a seasoned technician.

I rang the door and after a few minutes a kind women who spoke broken English opened the door and greeted me.  I introduced myself and with a smile tried to hand her the paper I had kindly retrieved from the driveway.  She looked at me skeptically and opened the door widely allowing me to see that there was another woman in the home, possibly the homeowner.  After a short conversation (in a language I dare not guess at) the kind women told me in broken English no, they “don’t want.”  I again tried to hand her the paper so that she could see the signed service agreement in my hand.  Again the homeowner kindly refused.  I sat the paper down on the front porch and then presented the contract to the women in the doorway.  At this time she had given all the time she was willing to and slowly closed the door on me.  I was a little surprised but it wasn’t the first time a customer has refused service.  I then called the next customer of the day and told them I had an opening in my schedule and would they allow me to service their home.  The customer allowed me to and I was about an hour ahead in what I thought would be a demanding day.  Late that afternoon I received a phone call from the office asking my why I never showed the earlier stop of my day.  I explained to them that I did, and that the customer refused my service.  The person I was speaking with sounded confused and asked if I went to the correct address, I told him yes that I even recalled verifying the address on the corner of the home after the customer refused service.  The person then stated they would call the customer and speak with them again.  A short time later I received a second phone call from the office; the customer thought I was a newspaper salesman.

Scorpion Season – WATCH OUT!

September 15th, 2009 1 comment

Scorpions are particularly active this time of year.  Why?  Because it is mating season and birthing season.  Luckily scorpions only give birth once a year.  Unlucky that they can give birth to over 100 baby scorpions!  And as interesting as it might be to see all of those baby scorpions hitching a ride on the mama scorpion’s back, you certainly don’t want that mother load entering your home and dropping off her little spawns all over your house!

AC01 27%20(Custom) Scorpion Season WATCH OUT!

Mother Scorpion with baby scorpions on back. Scorpions are unique among pests because scorpions give live birth. They do not lay eggs like most. Instead the mother births the live babies and then carries them on her back until they are mature enough to fend for themselves.

Scare tactic? Yes, but it the truth!

Just read the following email:

I’ve had a major issue with scorpions this past couple months. Been in my house for 5 years and this is the first time I’ve seen any scorpions. Am currently using ****Competitor****’s pest defense but haven’t seen any improvement. Maybe looking to change companies. I’ve been fighting them myself with a blacklight at night. I tend to kill about 1-2 a night and have also killed a mother with babies on its back. Needing some peace of mind since I have 2 small children.

Charles – Mesa, AZ

Charles has every right to be concerned.  Scorpions can be very dangerous, especially to small children as their bodies may not be able to metabolize the scorpion venom.

This cry for help was sent to us yesterday:

I am tired of dealing with these creepy crawlers.I live in a apartment and we have reported our several incidents to our front office they have sent their own pest control company but they have done a poor job even after their second visit in a three week span we still continue to kill scorpions around our house. I am in desperate need of some relief!

Arturo – Phoenix, AZ

And Niki from Las Vegas wrote the following:

Hello, We are finding very lively scorpions in our home almost on a daily basis. I believe them to be the bark scorpion. We have had a regular exterminator and I have advised him of the problem but what he is doing does not seem to work. Do you have a solution?? I am finding very small babies now which I don’t think is a good sign. thank you.

Niki – Las Vegas, NV

Is there a pest control solution to scorpion problems?

We believe that there is a pest control solution available for scorpion problems.  After many hours and treating over 20,000 scorpion infested homes across the US, we have developed scorpion control. That’s right, its not a pest control solution its a scorpion control solution.  When you’ve got scorpions search for scorpion control service.

Pest Control is more than just spraying for bugs.

July 27th, 2009 2 comments

The number one reason every pest control customer calls a professional is because they want to get rid of their bugs.  However, just spraying for bugs and getting rid of bugs may not be enough to make customers stick around and beyond that refer their friends. People want more than just a quick spray and go.  People want a service.  Of course service is different to each and every customer.  Some think of service as no hassle, do not bother me, don’t take any of my time, just get the job done.  Some think of service as, please make sure that you let me know you are here, and let me know when you leave.  For others, it is custom products.  For others, it is specific hours. So how can you define service? Service is serving the customer the way the customer asks to be serviced.  And more than anything, it means doing all of what they ask with a smile. Or better yet… Do all of the customer asks because you care about the customer. Yes, you must actually care about the customer to provide a real service.   And just saying “I care about you.” does not cut it.   …nor does “caring” about the customer because they are a dollar sign.  That’s only looking at them in a way that you benefit.  That is selfish, not self-less.  Service is self-less.

Our Las Vegas branch manager, Wayne, has received well over 200 Google reviews for his Las Vegas pest control services.  And 99% of those reviews are 5 stars.  This is one manager that teaches his staff how to care.  After studying the reviews he came to the following conclusion: “The Las Vegas staff have received 71 compliments in less than 10 days. As I read the compliments my paradigm was confirmed customers want our time, attention, pertinence, and kindness. They want this from a pleasant professional person,… Only a small fraction of the customers compliment us for getting rid of the pests, they compliment us for getting out there to address the problem. If I was at your house today how can you say if I did a good job or not. The pests are probably still alive. They compliment the service not the product. …Our techs are learning to give the customer everything they have through this driver, we need to find a way to give the customer more of our time.”

Conclusion, they want a service.  They want our time and attention.  They want us. Again, the number one priority is to do what they hired us to do, “Get rid of pests.” The number two priority, is to do everything else they ask of us and to do it with a smile. That is how you get customers to compliment your service. By going above and beyond just spraying for bugs. By doing more than getting rid of their pests. By being exceptional. Wayne and his Las Vegas pest control team are conquering the greatest marketing tool ever invented… being different.

Pest control service is more than just spraying for bugs.  Pest control is spraying for bugs.  Service is doing it like a professional, with a smile, and with the customer’s happiness in mind.

Google Maps & Pest Control

May 15th, 2009 No comments

Google’s most recent update was that of adding their map results to searches. Now if you search for Pest Control Las Vegas NV, you will get a list of 10 local pest control companies… well supposed local companies. Unfortunately these maps are very easy to manipulate. Take for instance the search for North Las Vegas Pest Control. You will find a result for Nature’s First Pest Control Affiliate. Click on their page and there is no listing of any affiliates nor address. In fact, the address used belongs to Bulwark.

It is bothersome that google is allowing this to happen.

So the big question, HOW DO YOU GET YOUR PEST CONTROL SERVICE LISTED IN THE TOP OF GOOGLE MAPS?

Well, this is still unclear, but here are a few things we have noticed.

1- Your address. If your address is Austin, TX then you are more likely to get listed for Austin TX pest control results.  In fact, this is the main reason we believe as to why Bulwark Pest Control shows up in Austin TX.  Indeed, its almost essential for your address to be within the city to be listed at the top.

2- Get listed with other directories, like yellowbook.com, or SEOpestcontrol.com.  Unfortunately these sites cost you some money and the added benefit may not be worth the cost.

3- Verifying your account with google.  This process takes sometime and has no guarantee.  Essentially you must claim your listing with google.  Once you have done this then google will remove the -Unverified listing tag, and we believe this will help your listing.  However, there are plenty of unverified listings showing up still in google’s results.

4- Linking. Find other pest control sites that are willing to help you with links.  There are a lot of ways that the smaller pest control companies can join up and help each other, and one of those is linking pest control sites.  For most small pest control services, finding PCOs that are not in your area should be easy.  Searching SEOpestcontrol.com may help you find other like minded pest control companies.

Hopefully this helps you with your Google Maps Results.  Remember still that marketing and being found on Google will do little for your pest control company if you are lacking in your service.  Advertising can never make up for poor service.
